I agree, and I mostly do the same. For some of my fics I tag some basic stuff - like, if it's related to a certain episode, or if it has a certain kink people might want to read/avoid. But never more than that, and not the cutesy tumblr style tagging.

I will admit to having whimsical tumblr style tags on one or two fics but usually I have three tags at the most. My fics are so short anyway - it seems ridiculous to put a lot of tags on them.

This, too. My fics are often very short, and I would feel ridiculous having more than five to ten tags on them. And a handful of whimsical tags is okay for me, and doesn't feel over the top like that wall of tags on some fics.
