That analogy would hold up if there were no tags on the story. There are tags. Fandom, Pairing/character(s). That's like bringing your cookies and labeling them "peanut butter cookies," but not listing out the entire recipe. If you're someone who can't eat wheat or eggs, then you're going to have to pass on the cookies. They might not have those ingredients, but there's a strong possibility that there's something you don't want in there. But if you're just looking for peanut butter cookies, well -- they're right there under the peanut butter cookie sign.
