Star Wars didn't really need a royal family of Force magic.

Also: Given a choice between the main movies being about "the Skywalker midichlorian line" or about the major events in the galaxy, I think the latter approach is ultimately better. The Skywalkers just intersected with those major events for a while.

Also, Episodes II & III did the opposite of endear Anakin to the audience. Disney has good commercial reasons not to make him the core of the concept.
