Rey Skywalker stans were extremely aggressive in pushing their fannish interpretation of TFA as the only reasonable interpretation while TLJ was in production, part of that fueling some rather ugly anti-Reylo wars. (Not my ship, but still...)

Sure, but the smug self-righteousness that the next movie will vindicate their Narrative Laws of the Star Wars Universe(tm) and we're just a bunch of idiots for waiting to see what the next movie does has been kicked back a few notches.

I have my own theories about what Episode IX will bring, but I don't care if they'll be vindicated or quashed. Throwing a fit because one's personal fan theory didn't get scratched by a creative team is the kind of entitlement that gives fandom a shit reputation.
