With bands specifically, like... I mostly interact with bands by listening to their music. So it's not about being a fairweather fan; it's just about whether they're still releasing albums that I think are decent and want to listen to, or not. I'm not going to abandon the records that I like but I do think that it gets hard to keep making genuinely good music after a certain point. It's just hard to keep up or something, idk.

Pretty much this.

I think OP mostly means people who stop liking a band after they stop being super popular, not people who stop liking them because they stopped liking their new albums.

This is how I read it, too. Weird that almost everyone else in this thread is replying with totally different scenarios than the one the secret describes.

That is a damn cute doggo. She reminds me of my Dad's old dog. I am rather partial to older dogs myself. Puppies are too all over the place. And they tend to be loud and demanding. Give me a nice older dog who's happy with a walk and a cuddle on the couch afterwords.

I'm loyal to a ridiculous degree, but if the band changes into a direction I don't enjoy listening to (e.g., suddenly they're writing house whereas before they were rock) I won't keep buying their music, regardless of loyalty. And if they've just lost creative steam and their music isn't good anymore, well, there's a lot of music out there, and a limit to my music budget.

So...basically something completely different than what OP is talking about, then?

Not really. I'm thinking specifically of U2, actually, and when they were past their prime and started incorporating electronica because they were kind of bored. Old dogs, but their new tricks weren't my thing.

Aww, cute doggie. <3 I get what you're saying, OP, but if an artist starts putting out stuff I don't like, I'm not gonna keep following them. I'm not gonna talk shit or anything and I'll still enjoy their older stuff, but I can't waste my time with stuff I don't like. I'll still check in on them every now and then to see if they release something I like though.

NAYRT but like...

I feel like most of the time, when people move on from musical artists, that is in fact the reason: because they stop making stuff people like

an overwhelming percentage of the time

I don't disagree, but that's not what OP is talking about, going by the actual text of the secret.

So.... like FallOut Boy?
