Nah, the purity brigade only really gets up in arms when there's a female character involved.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-24 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Ain't that the truth.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-24 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Disagree, unless you're including M/M ships that are "erasing" canon female love interests.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-24 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Did you hop a time machine from 2001 or something?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-24 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. People still scream about how evil slashers are so misogynistic that they prefer writing about cocks touching to writing about the Awesome Ladies. Usually comes with a side of race wank (as seen, extremely confusingly, in FinnRey vs FinnPoe shipwars) in this day and age.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-24 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Like I said....

(Anonymous) 2018-02-24 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released in the early 2000s?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-24 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
WTF

I’m just trying to find out why you think the purity brigade is after slashers in 2018. Are you in Sherlock fandom or something? ‘Cause I don’t see SW batting an eye - unless there’s a female character involved.

You've misunderstood one or both of my comments, then.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-24 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I made a statement. You said you disagreed. Then you elaborated in a way that proved my point. Yes, I’ll admit I’m confused.

You said that the purity brigade only cares if a female character is involved. I said that I disagreed with that evaluation unless you define M/M ships that "erase" canon female love interests as having a female character involved--because IME the purity brigade cares a lot about M/M ships, and often uses canon female love interests as a bludgeon against slashers. You told me I was stuck in 2001. I told you that I still see people shitting on slashers for erasing female characters, and gave an example from a modern fandom (Star Wars Sequel Trilogy) where I see such wank occur. You reiterated that I was stuck in 2001 and then acted like I was off my rocker when I pointed out that my example was from 2015.

Not true, look at Voltron and all the anti-Shaladin people, especially anti-Shiro/Keith. All the drama with antis in Voltron fandom (harassing both fans of the "problematic ships" and the show's staff members who advocate against harassment or show support for the ships, compiling "lists of pedophiles", heckling cosplayers at cons, trying to stop charity zines from happening, burning fanart, etc) has made it known as one of the wankiest and least welcoming fandoms in the past few years.
