It could be said that not giving a fuck about the countries around them is WHY they were in a position to help them? Like, I feels there's a catch 22 there.

Be caring: lose all your shit: be caring enough to want to help, but not have the edge necessary to do it.

Be callous: Keep all your shit: be perfectly capable of helping people but be too callous to want to do it.

Like, that was the central conflict of the T'Challa. I don't know if he made the right call. Like, as evil as Kill mongers plan was, it was the smartest way anyone could have taken a third option.

Be a dick: Send out some of your shit with heavily armed motherfuckers: Help when able, but make DAMN SURE they are not in any position to take your shit from you after you helped them.

I personally side with T'Challa at the start of the film, he kept his shit and sent out lowkey help in small doses, small and not super effective, but small enough not to need a world wide invasion to keep a hold of.

T'Challa wasn't king until about 1/3rd of the way through the film, and didn't seem to have much of an explicitly foreign policy (beyond "kill or extradite Klaw") until the epilogue.

He didn't seem super intent on changing the way his dad was doing things. Like, killmongers fist plan was "Guns to my people, Take over every country"

T'Challa's was "That guy who knows where we are and what we can do? We need to get him back here". Kinda speaks to the plan being keep shit going as usual.

There is a good argument that if African nations had participated in the Industrial Revolution on its own terms rather than being divided up by other powers, that they would have been much better off.
