Okay, I don't have a horse in this race because I don't care about the Holdo vs Poe thing. I only know that I've seen a lot of non-fandom spaces saying she should've just told him (or the audience at least) what was up and so the conflict felt contrived to them. I don't think it was as obvious as you think it was if so many people missed it, which makes it weak writing.
