[Joel Kinnaman in Altered Carbon]

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugly faces? Really? Fuck off ugly anon.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
This guy is clean-shaven and has hair, so he's not really Ugly Anon's typical target, although maybe the actor is over 35 or whatever.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
idk man. Most famous swedish actors I can think of fit the bill.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
You can think that people are ugly

It's OK

just don't be an obsessive weirdo about it

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Or apply it as a generalisation to an entire nation's gender, eh?

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Technically, it's only a slander against those Swedish men who are employed as actors (and presumably, only the ones who are in Hollywood)

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair, OP didn't say they AGREED with that sentiment, only that it distracted them during that scene.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-04 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, there's definitely something to this, as many Swedish males have a smidge of horse mixed in with their faces. Lots of fantastic bods though.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Is the same show we had a recent secret about, complaining that the men weren't objectified as much as the women?

Because damn.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I see what you're saying but the show does still manage to objectify women even more

It has extremely high objectification levels all around

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
So which is it? "More" or "all around"?

I haven’t watched the show, but have you ever attempted to read superhero webcomics? There are a lot of webcomics that have super-sexualized women, attempt to make it “fair” by super-sexualizing the men, and still have the women noticeably more sexualized than the men. (Grrl Power is a good example of the type, and El Goonish Shive sometimes leans in this direction.)

Men are at 8; women are at 11

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
They're not mutually exclusive concepts. If the Happy Doughnut Van visits your neighborhood and gives all the little boys 30 doughnuts each and all the little girls 50 doughnuts each, then the little girls definitely have more doughnuts per person, but in general, that's still a lot of doughnuts for your neighborhood.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
^ Yep, this.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-03 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
If his face was ugly, I'd be much more interested in him. He IS nice to look at, but I can't forgive him for that shit-ass Robocop remake. Thank God everyone hates it.

I lile his face.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-04 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
He looks like a younger, moodier Callum Keith Rennie.

^Or, you know, I liKe his face.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-04 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
sigh

Re: I lile his face.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-04 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Excuse you. This might be the Due South lover in me, but that is an insult to young Callum Keith Rennie, and I don't even find this guy particularly ugly.

ayrt

I don't know, there's always been something about Kinnaman that sort of reminds me of CKR. It may just be that they were both on The Killing. Anyway, he's definitely not a bad looking guy (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1172478/mediaviewer/rm618483712), so I'm not sure why that would be an insult. I'm a fan of CKR and think he's quite attractive.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-04 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. He looks different in this. Really, really different. Granted I only saw him in 'the killing' but...

(Anonymous) 2018-03-04 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
that dude from the Tarzan movie certainly fits the bill

(Anonymous) 2018-03-04 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
As a swede, I kinda want to feel offended on behalf of the men of my country. But at the same time I don't much like the way men from some other countries look (Finnish and British men come to mind, as well as the plastic surgery look of many Hollywood men), so I know how you feel, I guess?

Coming in really late, to say that this guy is fantastic eye candy for me. There was a lot to face palm about in Altered Carbon (as well as lots to love about it), but his looks weren't face-palmy in the least.
