110. Hah. We did the same thing after watching Shawn of the Dead. Had a very elaborate plan where the Honors students at the local university would be sure to survive.

115. Y HELLO THAR, MR MOAR-BYOOTIFUL-THAN-EVER1.

Seriously...does it ever cross your mind that a) escapism is not 100% bad in moderation. And B) It's possible to love Star Wars for the deep stuff and the shallow stuff. But you're too busy feeling speshul and elitist. I'll take childlike minds over oh-so-intellegent teenager-esque logic any day. FAIL.

121. At least it's a good musical. At least you didn't develope a crush on one of the actors who you only knew in passing that's gone on to last for...oh, what, fix, six years?
...I didn't say that last bit.

126. Ugh. So apparently, there are those kinds of fans out there. I stand corrected. On behalf of Rosefen everywhere, I apologise for this one. (Can I do that? Probably not...)

140. I'm going to emphatically agree with the top one, and be undecided on the bottom. Still, I am completely stoked to see Heath Ledger's version of the Joker, and was way back when it was first announced, because I think he's going to bring something absolutely terrifying to the role, and it will be delicious, and I will love it oh so much. But I have to keep the universes seperated in my mind, because really, Mark Hamill is the definitive Joker. I read the comics, I hear his voice. I'd pay good money to hear him sing the song from The Killing Joke. He brought the perfect balance of dark playfullness and psychotic, homicidal insanity to the role. Ever watched the Batman Beyond movie? He's just no-holds-barred terrifying.

And dangit, why can't they have Harley? She needs to be in the movies!

150. Repeat, I think.

159. Surely Guybrush Threepwood is not an unknown!

165. Yeee-ahhhh... I mean, yay, happy-ish ending, I guess, but the whole point of the Doctor and Rose's relationship was that it didn't need saying. Never had to be verbally acknowledged. It was weird to put him on the spot like that, and made me miss my Nine/Rose very much indeed.

166. I appreciate that the tragedy added another layer of depth to the finale. An example of the Doctor really not being able to save everyone in a less literal way. But it sucked to do that to Donna. I liked it up until the end, though.

169. Vash is a good role model.

oh no, i've been attacked by internet speak! i'm so wounded. let me pick up my pride.

uh, teenager-esque logic? this isn't a debate, and i'll be the first to admit i'm not arguing a logical point - hell, i'm not actually arguing a point at all. this secret was born of frustration, pure and simple. emotional ranting at its finest.

...and i see from your icon that your own logic is still stuck in the easter-bunny-santa-claus-stage, which definitely qualifies for the 'mind of a child' thing that i'm trying to avoid. epic fail.

(Anonymous) 2008-07-14 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
that was for 115, obviously.

[identity profile] shiplizard.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
It must be hard for you being so much better than everyone else. *cries a little tear for you*

(Anonymous) 2008-07-14 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
believe it or not, i'm not so narcissistic as to truly believe that i'm better than everyone else. i actually think all people have inherent worth, i just find it greatly amusing that someone who publicly advertises that they find worth in faith is accusing me of teenager-esque logic, when faith itself is the antithesis of logic! obviously, their dedication to sound reasoning only extends so far.

[identity profile] shiplizard.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
faith.

I see. Edgy teenage atheist. Say no more, hon.

(Anonymous) 2008-07-14 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
i haven't been a teenager for years, but nice try.

also, being an atheist isn't 'edgy', it's just sound reasoning.

[identity profile] shiplizard.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, punkin.

[identity profile] poisontea.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, I'm an atheist and you're being an ass. Just because someone is religious doesn't mean they can't think logically about anything. It's called compartmentalizing. People can be very bright and think very clearly when it comes to everything except their faith. Maybe you didn't deserve to be attacked, but making this argument isn't helping your own cause at all.

STOP BEING ON MY SIDE.

(Anonymous) 2008-07-14 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
point taken. i'm aware that the faithful can be perfectly intelligent people who are more or less rational in other areas of their life. the combination of 'internet speak', criticism and crucifixes blew a fuse in my brain somewhere. my apologies.

[identity profile] poisontea.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
Haa, it's okay, I was a little harsh. Sadly, I can understand getting defensive- it's hardly ever the way to go, but I've been guilty of it myself, so! That said, I do think everyone's in fandom just for the fun of it, and what you enjoy in the stories sounds really cool, but other people that enjoy it differently, even in a really "shallow" way, are just approaching it in a different way. In the end, fans are fans no matter their reasons or reasoning, and one fan isn't "better" than any others; if we enjoy and are having fun and finding something to be happy about in a particular canon, that's a good thing. ♥

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
A) It's a cross, not a crucifix. Not that it matters, but it must be pointed out.
B) Oh man, internet speak! Always a sign of the dumbest of the dumb, because we all know that F!S is serious business, right?
C) Oh no, you recieved criticism on a really elitist secret! However shall you deal!

Personally, I love that your response to mine wasn't actually about the secret, just unrelated personal attacks. You may not've been a teenager for years, but wow, you've got some growing up to do, especially if you see faith and think "childish moron incapable of logic." Whether or not a "fuse blew," the fact that that's the first place you jumped said some disgusting things about you. In fact, the word "bigot" might come to mind.

Oddly enough, the original Trilogy seemed largely about faith, not so much in any religion, but just simply having faith. But whatever. Enjoy being special.

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Since when does logic mean that you're having a debate? It's your frustration at being "one of the elite" who is so much better than the common sort of fan that strikes me as being incredibly teenager-like. Whether you are a teen or not, it's got that delightfully angsty "why is no one as clever as me?" vibe that you come to expect from black clad, eyeliner-wearing sixteen-year-olds.

Oooh, attacking someone's faith for no apparent reason whatsoever. Very classy.
