131. What? So you can have fun running around in mascot costumes but we can't? Grow the fuck up. Go yell at the assholes from 4Chan who beat up people in mascot/fur suits at cons. They're the ones that have ruined it for everybody.

What, 4channers beating up furries?! That sounds very unbelievable. The worse that I've heard of them doing anything to anyone that they harassed is hacking their Myspace.

I don't have a link. It wasn't a news story or anything. It happened to someone I know. She was wearing a fursuit at Otakon, and they pushed her down and kept shoving her. They wouldn't let her stand up. Maybe not 'beating up' per say, but that is some definite physical harassment right there. I have another friend at a different con who had someone run up behind her and start hitting her with their prop weapon yelling "DIE FURRY", even though the fursuit she was wearing at the time was of an anime character.

I'm not saying all 4chaners run around beating on furries, I'm just going by what I know. And I know that people wouldn't be afraid to wear mascot suits at conventions if people weren't assholes.

Sounds most likely that they were, pardon my un-PC ness, the so-called 'Newfags' or atleast new blood who only know about furries from some choice articles from Something Awful. All I know is, that if moot knew who they were he would ban them.(Which might not happen.. Unless you had digital evidence to prove it.)

Not to say that your lying or anything. It's just that after roaming around the furry fandom for 6 years, alot of furries tend to over-exaggerate about SA goons mocking their hobby, which while there're people with nothing better to do, it can easily be ignored.

But physical abusing someone over a costume from a fandom that is just as worse as the anime fandom is fucking stupid. Yes, I know some (very loud) furries with weird fetishes that make it public are mostly responsible for the reason why the fandom is portrayed in a bad light to fans of other fandoms, but that shouldn't warrant physical abuse.

I'm sorry about your friends having to go through that. Not all us Anons are like that.

How do you even know they were FROM 4chan? Oddly enough, not every furry hater visits 4chan. They just happen to be the most vocal ones.

Sounds to me both sides are just trying to tar the other.

I don't know that both incidents involved 4Chan, but apparently in the first incident (which I was not there for), they said they were from 4Chan.

So she wasn't beaten up, and it wasn't by 4chan. That's rather different from your original statement. Exaggerating for sympathy perhaps?

All I said was that not both incidents were 4chan. The first and more serious incident was. Perhaps I should have said 'physically assaulted' instead of 'beaten up', if we're going to nit pick. I'm not sure what you consider physical assault, but I think being shoved down onto the ground and not being let up certainly counts. I'm not trying to garner sympathy. I'm simply stating that it's the haters and not the furries that have 'ruined animal costumes for everyone'.

You might want to think of just *why* there are furry haters. It's not about wearing costumes, otherwise cosplayers would take the same abuse. Perhaps if the furry community was less delusional/attention whores/perverts/drama queens (or if the community kept the ones that give everyone a bad name under tighter control) you wouldn't have everyone else thinking you're a bunch of losers who are sexually attracted to animals.

I know it's not the case for every furry, but thanks to the actions of your vocal minority, that's what everyone else sees you as. It's not pretty, but unless you try and repair your reputation in a big way, people will always see you as terrible.

It's the furfags that give furries a bad name, after all.

I think there's a big difference between wearing a cosplay and believing you're a sexy anthromorphic fox.

And I think there's a big difference between being a furry and actually thinking you're an animal. Just like there's a big difference between furry and being sexually attracted to animals. That's like saying all anime fans live in basements and fap to shota and tentacle porn.
