100% canonblind here but just from reading that line, that seems pretty gay to me. I'd feel the same way if it were a male character saying the same thing about other guys. I'd be inclined to think she's bi because I'm sorry, I can't read something like that and think the character is totally and completely straight.

I'm pretty sure that you're getting OP's argument slightly wrong (and I only mention it because I 100% thought the same thing at first).

OP isn't saying that a male character would say this to other guys. OP's argument is that a male character would say this to women, and that fandom would nevertheless overlook that and say that the male character was interested in men regardless of that fact. So therefore (per OP) the fact that the female character is saying this to other women doesn't mean that she's interested in women; if a male character could say it and still be interested in men, this character can say it and still be interested in men.

I think that's more what OP is saying.

I mean, I didn't call her straight. I said she's straight for a certain guy. If fans were saying she was gay for every girl she says she's in love with, but not gay, period, that wouldn't be as bad. I said you could call her bi if you want to. It's not what the writing intends, but canon doesn't say she's straight, so it's OK to say she's bi. I said that right there in the secret.

You're already using "straight" in an idiomatic sense that doesn't assume that it determines the entirety of a person's identity

So how are you seriously angry at people for saying that she's gay in what is often a similarly idiomatic sense

They're not using it in an idiomatic sense. They're not saying she's gay FOR certain girls, they're saying she's gay gay gay the gayest who ever gayed, full stop. Some are even saying they feel bad for her male friend because she's JUST SO GAY, entirely contradicting the fact that she has canonical romantic feelings for him (and that he doesn't seem to have any for her.)
