sure is a lot of white people in this thread hella keen to look at Shuri (who is definitely coded as a teenager) and automatically assume she's a grown ass woman

once more white people like to perceive black children as grown when they clearly aren't

Uh. . . . Letitia Wright is 24. She is a grown ass woman, so it doesn’t really matter that the character she is playing is “definitely coded as a teenager,” people are going to mistake the actor’s age for the character’s age. This has come up in other FS posts for plenty of white actors, too.

da

Agreed. I see this so often with actors in their 20s playing teenagers. They're not children! They don't need the internet morality police to protect their virtue.

If you want to be mad about people sexualising teenagers, be mad about people sexualising ACTUAL TEENAGERS. Be mad at people who only cast adults to play teenagers. Pick anything to mad about but adults finding another adult attractive. That's... not productive.

You lost credibility at the word "coded."

This isn't tumblr, anon.

I had no idea she was a child because she doesnt look like a child, and children are usually in school, not the head of technological development for a nation. If she was 16 they should have at least cast someone under 20. I saw none of this coding you were talking about.. but maybe you're trolling. Who knows.
