Considering internet culture and such, I kinda think liking cats is pretty basic. No offense, I like cats too, but let's be real.

I didn't mean to say that everybody likes them, just that they are really popular. Think of all the cats on Instagram, YouTube, merchandise, memes...

It may be basic/popular/common to like cats, but that doesn't mean that whether or not someone likes cats can't affect your opinion of them.

idk, I think it's more about seeing someone act gentle and loving with animals than it is about them saying they like cats (or dogs, etc.) I'm immediately impressed by anyone who is gentle and loving with cats, and actively seeks to engage with them.
