Cat stories

[personal profile] philstar22 2018-03-15 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I want stories of your cat being cute. Because cats. I'm in the mood for cat stories. Dog stories are acceptable too.

I went out this morning to find my cat asleep on top of my mom, who was sleeping on her side on the couch. Cutest thing I've ever seen.

My cat cleans my dog's face when he's trying to sleep and then punches him and takes off running. She waits on the top of the sofa and then leans down and wails on him when he runs behind it trying to get to her corner.

Ha. So very cat. They are fickle. And they like to confuse us.

I'm currently fostering two cats! One is a rescue that was previously in a cat gang on the streets. He was probably owned previously and then abandoned, because he's so friendly with people. He's a big guy and kind of tough looking, but he's the sweetest little gentleman and just seems so happy to be living the spoiled indoor life. He's just a little skittish, but otherwise just follows me around and wants snuggles. Not even interested much in food, seriously just wants love and reassurance. (seriously fucking hate when people say cats only put up with humans to be fed.)

The other cat is a crotchety old lady with joint issues. She's not used to other cats so I was a little worried getting both. But while she sort of hisses profanities at the gangster cat, she also doesn't like moving so doesn't do much about it. She's a really overbred Scottish Fold (another reason I don't like breeds is that you can tell off of her joint issues are from being bred so much her body was never quite right to the point where her tail is fused together, all to get those dumb ear folds) and not the sharpest tool in the shed, but also really loves being pet and can be a cuddler. It's been a couple days and she's tolerating the other cat more, and gangster cat has been very gentle and good about keeping space from her and just disengaging with her when she's mad instead of yelling back.

Anyway, cats are great! I hope these two find homes soon. :(

Aw. Poor overbred kitty. And yay for outdoor cats being rescued. That was my cat too. She's much happier indoors, being spoiled. I hope your cats become fast friends and find great homes where they are spoiled rotten. Good on you for fostering. I think that is an amazing thing because the idea of giving up a cat makes me get teary just thinking about it. People who foster are amazing.

I dunno about cute, but I took my cat to the vet today and she got a steroid shot and new flea meds (flea allergy, apparently) but not before the vet and an assistant put a muzzle on her and then held her paws down because they couldn’t get her in a towel wrap. She cost me $154 and then when I’d carried her home and let her out of the carrier, I sat down and she came and sat on my lap. I said something like “wow, you forgave me fast,” and then she ripped into both my hands and one arm and jumped off my lap while I bled everywhere. Ah, cats.

Ah, cats indeed. Sorry for the injury. I hope she learns that you are just trying to keep her healthy.

Ouch! I like how she lulled you into a false sense of security by sitting on your lap first. Sneaky. My partner's cat has a flea allergy and has steroid shots too, but he usually just sulks away and we don't see him for days after.

I have catellites

the two of them are constantly hovering around me, sometimes actually doing circles (on the couch, back of the couch, down at my feet, repeat). I love their furry butts to bits but it's really inconvenient when I'm trying to work and someone wants a lap.

they also steal each other's spots. one chooses a neato new sleeping area, then when she changes her mind her brother takes the old one. round and round they go.

Dawww. Yes, they do seem to like to be near us. Mine does this too. Doesn't matter what I'm doing, she just wants to be near me. Not touched (unless she does want pets). Just near me.

My smaller one sleeps in a little ball on the pillow behind my head. He's so freaking adorable.

One of my cats LOVES to lay on my mom at night :p. The other's found a little spot on the couch that's hers and loves to curl up there a lot.

And the one that likes to curl up in her spot on the couch also has a box she loves to lay in a lot of the time, and whenever the other cat tries to sneak in there, she just kinda stares at her, like, "What are you doing, that's my box." One time she came over to the other cat when she was in there, and said other cat crouched down in the box all, "You don't see me. I'm not here."

Mine is really bad at retracting his claws, so he'll claw at the carpet and get himself stuck in it. Then he'll sit down with a look on his face like "I'm totally not stuck, I just wanted to sit here."

I don't have a cat, but my dog, Levi, wanted to play fetch while I was sitting eating lunch. He picked up a ball and tried to put it in my lap. Ball promptly fell off my lap and rolled away. Dog happily ran after it, brought it back, tried to put it on my lap, and the entire cycle repeated itself for a good twenty minutes. I've never seen Levi so happy

Not mine, but my neighbors have a nice, very fluffy, cat who will befriend anyone. People, dogs, other cats, anyone.

I walk a sheltie who belongs to another neighbor sometimes, and he's become friends with this cat. When we go past their house, she comes down from the porch or wherever she is and rubs against us. She tried to do the head-butt thing to the sheltie, and he sticks his nose in her fur.

It's always interesting to find my cats hiding in interesting and unexpected places. Like a couple of weeks ago looking for one of them and finding him in the dryer (which, thankfully wasn't on and the door was open). We now do check the washer and dryer before putting anything in and turning the machines on.

Cats do like exploring new places. We have to watch carefully when we're going to the garage or opening the closet that contains the water heater. Our kitty loves nothing more than exploring the garage or finding a nice warm spot under the heater.

Same cat that hid in the dryer likes to sleep on top of our water heater on occassion.

Our cat is just fast. And small. And a former outdoor cat who knows how to hide. We've accidentally shut her in that closet before and didn't realize where she was for several minutes. So we try to keep her out of situations where we'll lose track of her or have to run to catch her.

My cat is a very sweet boy who has been grumpy with me recently because I have been working two jobs so I don't have time to cuddle him enough :p He whines whenever I leave for my second job.

I adopted him from Austin after falling in love with him online - and when I went in to see him for the first time he was super reserved and depressed, and just generally not doing well in the shelter. He had been returned once, and the workers said a lot of people came to see him but didn't connect with him. When I went to see him, I felt like we clicked right away, and after a few minutes he rolled over and showed me his belly - at which point the worker there got super excited, because according to her, he had never done that with anyone before. I took him home the next day :,) He is doing infinitely better now, and is a happy little cuddle bug.

Cat stories mmmh. When I had a cat, he would hide behind a wall, waiting for you to approach and "attack" you. He used to fall asleep either on my lap if I was sitting down or on my feet when I was washing the dishes. He was also a cuddle monster and would sometimes act like a dog hahaha.
