Sometimes when I think about Harry Potter, it takes me a moment to separate book/film canon from fanon. A long moment. A lot of it just doesn’t ring true to me anymore, if it ever did, and the HP universe that plays out in my daydreams doesn’t necessarily resemble the ’real’ one all that much.

My enjoyment of this franchise is now so firmly rooted in the collaborative, creative changes (representational and storytelling-wise, or other) that fandom has made, that I get bummed when I remember the ways in which I feel the series is lacking.

(Harry Potter went on to be a teacher at a rebuilt Hogwarts, and the concept of his character doing anything else is completely incongruous to me.)
