My enjoyment of this franchise is now so firmly rooted in the collaborative, creative changes (representational and storytelling-wise, or other) that fandom has made, that I get bummed when I remember the ways in which I feel the series is lacking.
(Harry Potter went on to be a teacher at a rebuilt Hogwarts, and the concept of his character doing anything else is completely incongruous to me.)

And just as importantly, he showed a talent for meeting learners where they are and getting them to grow via guidance and encouragement. Which is more than you can say for half the established teachers at Hogwarts.
Hermione wouldn't be a good teacher, especially not of middle-to-high-school students, because she wouldn't have any patience for constantly rehashing low-level material she'd already mastered. Magical lawyer would be right up her alley, though.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-17 02:50 am (UTC)(link)So, I don't know. I think Harry probably could be a pretty decent teacher if it was a field he was interested in. He doesn't have a lot of patience to grind work, which might be a problem for him, but he actually is very good at working with people and teaching them things in a way that doesn't scare the shit out of them or have them wind up in a bathroom crying. Hermione ... might not be quite so good at that part. She has a lot of patience for magic, but she doesn't always have the same patience for people.

I guess he could be a teacher.
(Anonymous) 2018-03-17 01:32 am (UTC)(link)I also think he could be an auror (he had encouragement, but he was always running around investigating things) or something to do with magical creatures (he got along with a fair number of them) or running some sort of foundation/group home for unwanted magical children.
