I'm in a similar boat OP.
I've said this before, I really want two specific fandom tattoos. One for Metalocalypse and one for Rick and Morty.

Rick and Morty has a terrible fandom though, and I have this fear that someone from either series will do something terrible like rape or be caught for child porn or something and then I have this symbol of them marked on me.

I can't separate art from the artist because my money goes to their livelihood so if they did something terrible, I'm fucked.

Like I said, the fandom is terrible.

But, if I were to get the tattoo, which I'm not, I am very clear on my own personal reasons for doing so. It has nothing to do with the fandom, but there was a quote in an episode that resonated with me, so, *shrug*.

I will admit that is one thing that gives me pause about my tattoo. If for some reason I start listening to different music, their music will still be a fond memory for me, but if one of them did something truly horrible... I'd be stuck with the tattoo.

I decided it was worth it but I get where somebody would not think so. But personally I'd never have put it somewhere it isn't easy to conceal, for any number of reasons.
