late to the party but - OP, if its embarrassing than its embarrassing and you shouldn't do it. Everyone else is giving you their experience but we're talking about yours. And a fandom tattoo would embarrass you. So - don't do it.

Its not as if tattoos are the only way to enjoy a fandom or express your enjoyment of it. It's not as if tattoos are necessary. If you reach a point in your life where you are not longer embarrassed THAT is the time to get the tattoo if you still want it. Not before. A tatt is permanent and stuck on your body forever. Until you're comfortable, you shouldn't be doing something like that to yourself.

and this is said as someone that has a Ronin Warriors tatt that I got almost twenty years ago and still love.
