I've gotten so obsessed with a fictional character that all I want is to do fanart of them. I haven't painted anything else in over a month. I just want to paint them over and over until my mind knows by heart every tiny line of their face, every shadow. I want to paint that light in their eyes until it's burned onto my very soul.

This...is not good. Right? I guess it wouldn't be that bad if it were some super popular character, but it's not and I'm afraid people will grow tired of it, so I don't even publish my art anymore.

I wish I wouldn't find them so damn mesmerizing, it would make my life so much easier if I didn't see their face every time I close my eyes or hear their voice in my dreams.

I know it will pass, but I kinda don't want it to, either

Anything that makes you want to practice is good.

Keep painting them for as long as the urge stays with you. If you really want to be "good" about it, try varying your style to capture them in different ways and stretch your abilities.

I'm glad you have something inspiring you to put more art into the world!

I think that if there's other people out there who are obsessed with that fictional character, they'd love to see your art! I mean, no pressure to post your stuff, anon, but as someone who has tended to obsess over and even madly crush over unpopular/minor characters... we're always hungry for ANY sort of pictures or fic involving them, even stuff that's not ~*super high quality*~.
