Before he was famous outside the general Polynesian area, Taika Waititi did a TedX Talk where he talked about being an artist and how sometimes artists get obsessed with creating the same thing over and over and over and that it's OK. I urge you to find it on YouTube because it made me feel better about obsessing over painting a certain type of tree a million times. I just went with it and I've gotten so good at it I sold a painting with that tree for almost $300. Once the obsession runs its course and I've taken the skill as far as I think I can I move on to a new skill obsession. Waves, fan palms, coconut palms, and right now it's pine trees. We don't really have pine trees where I live, just fake tropical island ones like casuarina and norfolk island pines. I've already sold a shit ton of pines set against a galaxy night sky. Keep up the obsession and see where it takes you artistically. Don't refuse the muse.
