Things you liked, then they changed

Be a hipster, or an old curmudgeon! What did everyone ruin?

The fact the author was arrested for having child pornography kinda ruined Rurouni Kenshin for me.

It was my favorite manga.

Ditto. I loved that manga and Kenshin is one of my top ten favorite characters, but it's really hard to enjoy it now knowing what Watsuki's done.

At least now I feel vindicated in my dislike in some of the canon ships. Or at least I think some of them can be explained by the author liking kiddie porn.

Wait, people in Japan get arrested for having child porn?

Surprise is not snarky. I understood the laws were so lax, because you can practically buy it legally (no joke, I lived in Tokyo and it's shocking what you see in adult stores, like "swimsuit modeling" videos of young kids). I thought it was illegal to sell but not illegal to own or something.

- American. Girl. When I was a kid, American Girl was a series of historical fiction books. Now it's all about the dolls, with the books as a side option.

- Hulu. I remember when Hulu was a free (legal) streaming service. I have no idea if they were pressured to make it pay-only or if that was their plan all along, but either way, it's annoying.

Oooo! I never had the money for the dolls (and I'd always prefer to use it on a game or something if I'd managed to save it up), but I read most of the books! I loved them.

We never had the money for dolls, but my mom, sister, and I read the books growing up. A year ago, I happened to be passing by an American Girl store, so I stuck my head in. The salesperson was mildly confused when I asked them where the books were; turns out there was just half a wall of books by the checkout area (and not even all the books I remembered, whomp whomp). :(

I still like American Girl, but I definitely prefer the older dolls. And I must say that the whole point of the books was to get you to buy the dolls, so they were always about dolls, but they definitely used to place a greater emphasize on history. The newer books are a little disappointing because the "Peek Into the Past" section isn't as expansive as it was in the older books, but I do like the new characters (especially Melody). However, a doll that's over a hundred bucks should have eyes that fucking close the whole way and even if I like the character in the book, I refuse to buy the doll because of all the cost-cutting measures.

I can't argue that Hulu used to be free and now it isn't, but it has a lot more stuff, including stuff produced by them that I love like The Handmaid's Tale and Harlots. To me it's worth paying for.

I don't blame you for hating it but it would never have what it has now if it were still free.

House might as well have been two different shows. S1-3=awesome. S4-8=why?

Yes, I think I quit watching that show's last 2 seasons.

Once Upon a Time was a heaping pile of cheese, but fun, in the first season and not terrible in the second and third seasons. Then, well... the costumes and music continued to be nice? The actors did what they could? Idk.

Someone awoke my anger yesterday, new skittles. The green apple is not only gross, it completely overwhelms every other flavor.

Yet this post has me wanting to try the new skittles.

This. I really missed the atmosphere of the Vancouver setting.

The original Battlestar Galactica series - when the Galactica crew finally reached Earth.
Oh, and when the 80’s TV version of Buck Rodgers changed its setting from Earth to wandering around in space. Bleah.

Teen Wolf after season 2. They started to take themselves too seriously and replaced half the cast with more boring/annoying characters.

Pamela waking up to find Bobby in the shower. They couldn't even bother to undo all the changes that had taken place during his absence.

Grimm after Adelind-whatshername tricked Nick into bed with her. Like turned to instant hate.

And the toilet paper I've been using: now it's "new, softer and improved". My ass (quite literally).

This, on TW. I enjoyed the first season but I struggled to get even halfway through season two, and never made it any further. :(

Also, oh my god, after hearing about that disaster that was Grimm, I am so glad I got sidetracked away from it WAY before that happened.

BTS. I like their earlier stuff, I'm not into the electronic/pastel stuff they're doing now blech (bonus, I prefer the hiphop monster comics to their new characters). Bangtan Boys >>> Beyond The Scene

skins was the greatest show in television history, and its third season (and second, for that matter) is up there with the west wing's second as "greatest season of tv ever made"

then that postscript season seven happened, and took a giant dump on everything good that the show ever did, and i struggle to love the things that were so great about it because now i know how it's going to end and it's beyond appalling

Skindred. I loved their previous releases, but "Big Tings" sound very different from everything else in their discography.
