I wouldn't mind Tony Stark so much if he didn't keep taking the spotlight in other characters's movies (ie Steve's third "solo" movie having more content dedicated to Tony's emotional arc than Steve's, and Tony being a ""mentor"" that Peter didn't need in Peter's new debut movie)

Uh, the PTB had always planned the plot CA:CW as part of the arc to IW. The only reason it was called Capt America was because that was in the original MCU docket. RDJ had nothing to do with the plotting, and resenting Tony Stark for the PTB's decisions is...odd for your mental health choices. He's a fictional character.

And they *used* Tony Stark in Homecoming to make Peter's hero's journey more epic. Tony looked like an old dad and someone Peter had to get around (like hacking his suit) and ultimately, decide to grow up and make his own decisions despite of...that was intentional and a necessary part of the plot. Peter needed a figure to rebel against. Well, he could have been rebelling against Aunt May, which would have been pretty cool too, imho, but I guess we're not there yet (sexism). I'm sure the studios had something to say about that, as well.

Okay cool, still didn't like having more time spent on Iron Man in a movie called Captain America: Civil War. Tony had his three movies, and Steve didn't. Sue me.

Honestly I liked Peter's arc a whole lot better when it was Peter's arc and he wasn't being scolded like a toddler by Tony, who, again, had no real reason to be in that movie. There's no reason Peter couldn't have "grown up" without someone else pulling his strings.

This. I wanted Civil War to be about Steve, and Homecoming to be about Peter. Instead, I got RDJ and his ego. I'm not okay with that.

The Civil War story is about BOTH OF THEM. Learn to share.

I completely agree with this.
