Disinterest. It doesn't happen all the time, but if I can't be bothered keeping up with a show/movie/book/game I'm into then my time with it is done.

The Walking Dead: Negan. The show was getting awful but Negan was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Speaking of the Channel Awesome -thread I made above; learning about the shitty business practices of CA made me finally stop watching Nostalgia Critic. At that point I mostly watched the new stuff out of routine, but I still used to go back occasionally to watch some of the older stuff.

Ignoring the trivial 'I stopped loving it' case...

Depressive periods will make me stop, then sometimes the resulting huge backlog will keep me from picking up once I'm feeling myself again.
I've dropped a couple webcomics because the author is a jackass (that's about the only medium where the creator interacts with the readership enough to suffer this).

Webcomics are also particularly bad w depression b/c if it's a webcomic that regularly updates, a small interruption in reading it can quickly leave with a huge backlog to catch up on

Too true. I got used to Order of the Stick's very slow update schedule, and then the writer started updating regularly and now I'm 150 pages behind.

Yep....I'm glad I didn't have an episode during a period when Homestuck was updating, because having to hugebinge AGAIN probably would have killed me.

Often going from a situation where I have different media access, like cable vs. no cable, good internet connection vs. poor connection, or even variable access to a library. I also travel a lot for work and while these are usually short trips, sometimes I can bed gone for as month or more and the disruption to my routine can cause me to drop stuff.

They killed off one of my favourite characters in such a way that I couldn't ignore what a mess the writing was and the whole thing just fell apart.

I'd have to buy several systems I don't own to complete the story. C'mon, Kingdom Hearts, no one had a PSP and I ain't coughing up the cash for a PS4.

That's why I stopped loving the Matrix. The sequels were crap, sure, but then you had to buy a game and loads of other expansion materials to fill in the plot holesunderstand everything in them, and I just said "whatever."

It went different, and it got a new fandom that despised the old fandom, including me.

Character death...

I'm trying to still enjoy it. Sometimes I do, but it comes in spurts.
