Hmmm. Is it unusual anymore to be unmarried at 30? If not, I can't think of anything. I am pretty average.

Yeah, we need to know what the OP considers the norm. Is it what more than 50% of people are doing? If 30% of people of our generation are marrying after 30 or not having any kids, is that unusual? Whose standards are we going by and from what time period?

(Anonymous) 2018-04-02 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
your standards this time period

We need to know what you consider the norm to be able to answer this question.

What you consider to be the norm. Why does there always got to be some smart ass who needs words to be defined for them?

Thirty-something living with my parents and have no intention of moving out. Everyone assumes that I'm having a rough patch and wishes me luck getting out of it, but the truth is all three of us are comfortable with the way things are and see no reason to change it.

Oh, same here. I live with my mom and both of us are fine with it. Together we can afford a much better house than we would alone. Plus, it is nice to have company since I have no interest in romantic relationships.

"More than a third of Americans aged 18–34 were living at home in 2015 — an 8-percentage-point increase (read: a huge increase) over the situation in 2000. "

That's pretty normal nowadays.

Well, I don't have kids, I'm not married, I don't have a significant other, and I don't have any student debt (yet).

I don't leave the house if I can help it. I go to work, sure, but going places other than that is bad. I'm happy with that. All the best things in the world are already in my house, or can be ordered in.

No kids, mixed race marriage, married for 25+ years. That's about it, I guess?

I'm an unmarried 30-something with no kids or pets. I travel for work and live in hotels year-round. My working hours are extremely long and erratic, I haven't had a "weekend" since I was in high school. The only property I own and/or rent is a workshop, so I'm technically homeless. I used to be much more poor than most people, now I'm much more wealthy. And so on.

Unmarried 30 years old woman living alone currently studying at the other part of the world after having a stable job for 5 years. Dropped everything to pursue my... dreams?

In addition: couldn't care less about romance and marriage (also, I'm bi and I prefer women) and living in an Asian country with this mind set has been pretty difficult at time. That's certantly NOT the norm here, even if it's been slowing changing.

I'm a 33-year old millennial with 2 kids, a house, a steady job and a husband. Seems pretty rare for F!S anyway.
