You are just hanging out in the wrong parts of the fandom, OP. This fandom has just as much slash as any other.

Not really UNLESS you count The Hobbit movie fandom. I have looked.

Silmarillion fandom is made of slash. Maedhros/Fingon is the primary OTP of the fandom.

Legolas/Gimli is fairly common in the LOTR fandom. So is Frodo/Sam and Merry/Pippin.

I'd say Tolkien has more gen than the average fandom, but of the shipping, slash is all around and very common.

I loved them too. And even more so after rereading and falling in love with the books. Just, that kind of bond is everything I look for in a ship. My favorite type to ship.

There was a ton of slash after LOTR came out but they were all on archives that have probably shut down. It wasn't just movie fandom either. There was a ton of slash. It's just that it's an older fandom.

There still is a ton of slash.

I'm aware of that.

It felt to me that Legolas/Aragorn was blowing up FF.net back in the dsy.
