Sex ed beyond how babies are made, abstinence, and "don't have sex and don't tempt boys."

Basic life skills like how to manage money and how to interview for a job.

Political history, both in your own country and in the world in general. Just, dealing with issues, politics, how to be a citizen, how we've gotten where we are now

international relations, just, about other countries and how your country relates with them.

How to think for yourself, how to question, how to analyze sources and make judgments.

I'm not in the US, but all of those things were taught at my school, and in more than just a passing mention.

Sounds like you went to a great school then. I didn't. My school was crappy and taught none of those.

You went to an awful school if none of those things were covered. There are a lot of them, especially in red states because the GOP wants to dismantle the public school system, so it's in their best interest to hobble it financially and intellectually. In my US school, most of those issues were covered.

Yes, yes I did. An awful, conservative, fundamentalist, backwards religious school. I was a missionary kid, and it was the only English speaking school we could afford (there was one other school that was better but out of our price range, though my parents have expressed regret that they didn't find a way to send me there).

As someone who is trying to figure out how the fuck 401Ks work (I will be getting one next month), how to handle retirement/investing.

How to write a resume and conduct yourself in job interviews.

This, best decision I ever made in Senior Year of high school was to take a Home Economics course as my Math requirement. My Algebra sucked in college, but at least I knew how to balance a checkbook.
