Re: Who were some of your worst teachers?

Best teacher was the crazy awesome one who was chatting with my seventh grade teacher about maybe taking a group of students to Europe one day, then telling me and a classmate we were welcome to chaperone because we’d be in high school or college by the time they managed to get a workable plan together. Cue me having her for eighth grade and a ton of seventh and eighth graders from a not-that-great school selling tons of mini pizzas to raise money and going to England and Scotland for ten days. I’d only ever been to Mexico before, which was cool but only about 25 miles away. Worst... the AP Environmental Science teacher who bailed halfway through the semester (neevous breakdown? Caught fucking students? Idk) and left us with a series of incompetent as fuck substitutes. I got a 5 on the exam, but it was only by flunking the class because I didn’t do the totally unrelated makework and studied on my own. Lots of my fellow classmates went to the principal’s office during class and bitched at him that their GOAs were being ruined by their bullshit. I had an instructor in college who made every one of her couple thousand a semester students buy a textbook she wrote. It couldn’t be a used copy. When the faculty was striking for better pay, she told us she was already tenured and didn’t support the strikers, and that she’d flunk any students who failed to cross the picket line every day. The head of the art history department at my first university is the reason I decided against being an art historian. He was a cruel vindictive bastard who once threatened to flunk me, in front of an entire class, because my hiccups must’ve been a deliberate disruption of his lecture and not a humiliating reaction to the public dressing down he’d given me earlier, and he’d made very clear that if we missed a lecture or left early he’d flunk us.
