I didn't really get the hate even in her first season, to be honest. A great deal of the non-Doctor characters have been plot devices, not just her, so to hate her because of that seemed ridiculous.

Pre-S2 it seemed a fairly manageable level of weird. Then after S2 it got scary really fast.

The eyebrows are weird to me. And her smile looks forced. But I don't think that read would look perfect on anyone because it's such an unnatural shade. It's not going to blend with skin tones like a more natural colour would.
