I don't watch the show, but from what I've heard, it's pretty popular. 15 years in a popular tv show *is* a career, and the thing is, they appear to be doing a huge amount of supernatural fandom related things outside of just filming the show, like multiple charity works and opening businesses and doing cons and stuff. I imagine this will support their post supernatural careers for decades after the show is done. They are celebrities after all.

They have a post supernatural path, it just might not be the one you approve of.

They're almost certainly raking in cash, but I think OP's point is that none of them are going to be able to get major roles in serious film/TV from now on. They're so strongly associated with Supernatural that they'll probably be relegated to cameos. It's not that they don't have anything to be grateful for, just that if acting is truly their passion this may not be where they wanted to end up.

But if they really thought the MCU or other blockbuster roles were going to come, they would have quit when Ackles was rumoredly getting those type of offers. They keep signing contract after contract, they knew they weren't destined for huge mainstream success after season 4.

Serious roles doesn't just mean blockbuster roles.

I think they knew serious character actor or indie roles weren't going to come either. Hallmark or CBS crime dramas were probably going to be their only other options, might as well stay on SPN and milk the convention circuit for all it's worth.
