I feel like pre-orders are mostly a measure of hardcore fan interest, and box office records rely on the general public more so than the hardcore fans?

IDK though I haven't exactly studied it scientifically

I would say that is untrue UNLESS the movie is dogshit. Like Justice League.

I'm glad I'm not big on the MCU, I'd hate to fight that crowd for the second time. Black Panther was great, but enough).
