That's... actually fair. Unless you're a latecomer to the fandom or only got recommended the fic after it was deleted, you would think that if you liked it enough to ask the author for a copy, you would have liked it enough to at least toss a kudos at it.

I never read the book and after about the first two thirds, it lost me.

I still defend it because non-white casting didn't make the movie bad, really ugly visual CGI choices and a confusing story did.

I hate when people act that way. Doing things like hoarding "good" URLs not because they just like the character that much but because they think no one else deserves to have them. I have no idea why they decide that iconic or popular characters like Buffy are their favorites when they so clearly can't stand the idea that someone might like the character as much as they do.

Because as much as I love TvTropes, they're not the best for finding out whether something is good. I go through reviews on good reads for that.

I mean, I'll find something because of the website, but I wouldn't use it as my ultimate recommender.

Oh man, you need a movie screen for all that projection. I see the laptop screen was too small.

Not everyone writes and posts things expecting praise. Sometimes people post for the fun of it. Why that's so incomprehensible to some people, I will never know.

Use the AO3 word count filter and set it to >500 or >1000 or however many words it takes for something to mean real effort to you. Problem solved.
