I never read the book and after about the first two thirds, it lost me.

I still defend it because non-white casting didn't make the movie bad, really ugly visual CGI choices and a confusing story did.

I have no problem with them casting African American actors but Meg is the only heroine I EVER saw in kids' books who is specifically described (at least in the first book) as not being pretty. I wasn't any better looking as a kid than now and that meant a lot to me, so of course they have this beautiful little girl in the movie.

That's exactly how I felt about the casting for Hermione at first. I related to her so much, and I wanted an actress who looked like the book character. I stopped caring after a while, though. Hollywood is probably never going to change in that regard.

I have issues with Meg's actress. I give zero fucks that they cast a POC. I just wish she could act.
