...Really?

Because as much as I love TvTropes, they're not the best for finding out whether something is good. I go through reviews on good reads for that.

I mean, I'll find something because of the website, but I wouldn't use it as my ultimate recommender.

I think they're using it to find books that have generated a lot of fan interest, because they think that's a better metric of popularity (if not quality) than the traditional methods.

I personally check out if there are Entries both for tropes I hate and love if reviews are mixed.

TVTropes is my go-to for a lot of things.

"Am I imagining this theme? Did anyone else notice this?"

The only bad thing is that if I try to add anything, the mods are ridiculously controlling about what gets added and what doesn't.

I love TV Tropes, but I also like a lot of books that are good, but never got popular enough to generate a page.

Is the book in the secret good?

I'm just curious since you used it and it's a pleasant change from the girls I tend to see on these covers (but I'm not curious enough to look it up myself ATM)

Not OP, but I read that book and really liked it. It's based on the premise that you can trade a body part for a wish - and the main character sells her heart to escape an abusive home. There's some Lovecraftian concepts thrown in there, too. Surprisingly good for a young adult novel.
