I've come to appreciate Aule (and Ulmo) more as I've matured. They are interesting characters, and I can agree that Aule probably still cares for his lost maiar. I still like Ulmo better but I do like the relationship between Aule and his dwarves. I wish more fic would really dive into that, especially from Aule's divine perspective.

This is a LOT of secrets from the same person. You seem very desperate to talk about this fandom. Do you not have a Tolkien forum you can discuss these thoughts with? These aren't even secrets, you just want to talk about Silmarillion.

Eh, I had a similar desire to talk about Tolkien after I read the Silm but couldn't find anyone to talk to about it. It's not very easy to find good discussion, especially if you're not on the Sauron/Melkor boat.

And I'm glad for all the secrets! Sometimes something's a secret because there is no one to talk to. It's nice to see so much Tolkien all of a sudden, and I hope it continues. I like talking about the Valar.

I liked his snarky relationship with Yavanna. To be honest I liked all the Valar as individuals. But when they get together some sort of groupthink sets in and their decisions suck. That might be why Ulmo and Nienna are less sucky than the rest - they spend more time away from the others.
