I think you're really, really wrong about them lasting.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-14 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)I rewatched ER recently and now I'm again filled with disappointment and a bit of anger about Carter and Abby not being endgame... teenage me was convinced they would be and then... :(
Which is why I stopped my rewatch after season 8 (many of the most interesting characters were gone by then anyway).
... *whispers* Also Benton/Corday had so much chemistry... SIGH.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 08:16 am (UTC)(link)Oh, I liked Mark and Elizabeth, too! I didn't mind them going that way. It was the best option imo.
I so think Peter and Cleo were super boring together... well, you get some and lose some...
But Carter/Abby I'm still genuinly angry about. Am convinced they were written as endgame till Noah wanted to leave for a while, leaving the show without a coveted core couple (otherwise they might have gotten the Doug/Carol treatment oft absent but not forgotten love interest).
I need to find a fic that fixes this.
(Doesn't help that I never again loved Luka after season 6. Idk what they did to him.)

(Anonymous) 2018-04-14 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)Dawson and Joey decided they were soulmates when they were young, and I don't think their adult relationship could have lived up to that ideal.
I think Pacey and Joey always knew that their relationship would require some effort. Pacey also had a refreshing awareness of his own immaturity in his teenage years. Joey and Dawson both suffered from that "I'm not like other teenagers" attitude, while also having tantrums because the person they liked kissed someone else, etc. Yes, their high school relationship was doomed, but they both then had the opportunity to learn from that and grow up.
