You played yourself, OP. And a lot of the music was more of what you hear in the Lexus commercial. Shuri's lab was poppin though. I would not have been able to get any work done, just dance all day.

As far as Stark Tech being the best, I suppose it might help to keep in mind that Wakandan technology is not rooted in the same place as Stark Tech. They're not coming from the same place in terms of base materials (vibranium vs Tony stuff) and I'm sure the designs etc follow similar paths. So...if helps, they're just different?

All jokes aside, it was a really good movie. It didn't even feel lik e a Marvel movie. I didn't feel bored and empty at the end. It didn't feel like your run of the mill super hero movie. I hope you enjoy it some day if you change your mind!

Bullshit it didn't feel like a Marvel movie. That is just a straight up lie.

ayrt

At least for me and (and like two other people) it felt that way. What made you feel like it was a Marvel movie?

I mean, certainly there were vestiges of Marvel trappings, but I felt more engrossed in the story and the characters than some overarching Marvel plot. And overall, I just felt that in comparison to the other Marvel movies I've seen, this didn't feel like the usual superhero movie (which is what I associate Marvel movies with).

it's literally just Iron Man in Africa

Uhm...I think that's a bit of a reduction/over generalization of the movie. Considering the plot revolves around a man who must inherit a throne facing the realities of his family, His history, and the injustices that surrounded his country and how nothing was done. And his arch rival is a guy bent on reparing the damage done to the oppressed...i mean...i don't really see the full Iron Man parallels (Tony has to right the wrongs he did? this at best?)...But if that's what you saw...

And tbh, if it really was about iron man in Africa, it would have been all about Shuri.

This is also what Iron Man is about, except he's a CEO instead of a king

SAYRT

The above stated, Marvel movies do not usually leave me feeling any particular way after the fact. They're enjoyable, funny, and full of action. Sometimes I even feel drained after the movie. This movie left me feeling ways, as it were. And not just shipping x/y, but considering a lot, feeling "what if"...which may be an experience for other people when watching other Marvel movies, but...I don't know. I should have specified that at least for me, that's what it felt like. I didn't feel like I was watching "Another Superhero Film" by Marvel.

What do you consider the general Marvel trappings that this movie failed to elude and cause you to disagree?

It is literally the same character introduction movie they have ALL had.

-Hero vs their evil opposite (Iron Man/Iron Monger, Captain America/Red Skull, Thor/Loki, Doctor Strange/Hannibal Lector, Ant-Man/Bug Guy, Black Panther/Killmonger).

Here is a list I found online.

-The hero’s mentor will almost always die
-There will be a sassy, independent, bad-ass woman
-The hero will learn that s/he always had the power to solve Problem X all along
-The final boss battle will be anticlimactic as hell
