That's what I think every time.

Yeah, it's bad. Famously bad. But it's supposed to be bad. They're literally forcing laughter. It's the whole point of the scene. The real laughter comes in after even they realise how bad/funny the forced laughter was.

I can see how it would look bad without context, but seriously? Even without it you can see them break into real laughter afterwards.
