I know lots of people who know the context of the scene (since I and my friends are a group of gamers) and still thought it was bad acting.

I get it’s supposed to be forced. I still think it was cringy and a little over the top. Though I think the main reason was that FFX was the first one where voice acting was really a thing. First attempts are always kinda rough.

Yeah. I get the intent of the scene. I even like the idea of it. That doesn't mean it's not a badly done scene.

Like, the Andromeda movie night is "hammy bad acting" done right. (Or good acting done right, if you choose the other option.) The FFX seagull laughter scene was just bad all around.

Eh, I disagree. Considering context, you (general you) are not supposed to think the scene is cringe-worthy after Yuna and Tidus start laughing for real. It’s obviously a bonding moment for them but I still played past the scene thinking it was overblown.

Just because the point of the scene is meant to be cringy doesn’t mean it’s actually WELL-WRITTEN cringy. For all people complaining about others not understanding the scene, it confuses me why they can’t in turn understand someone saying, “Oh yeah I know it was supposed to be cringy. Still think it’s a terrible scene.”
