I'm gleefully enjoying every bit I catch of this mess but I don't go out of my way looking for more. He hasn't jumped ship yet? Must be the only one left at this point.

OP

Since making this secret it's been kind of vague but it sounds like the Walkers are trying to distance themselves from CA somehow, and Brad has removed all CA links from his website and social media so *shrug*. Rumour is it's all law stuff, like, Brad was one of the few who actually had contracts with CA or something.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2018-04-20 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, that's bad luck, considering how allergic to contracts CA seem to be.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-20 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone who stopped with the crossovers right before boldly flee and the website right before CA, I feel hilariously happy I stopped watching.

Also bc why would I go to the site once they reliably posted on youtube.

"Also bc why would I go to the site once they reliably posted on youtube."

Same. I subscribed to the creators I liked and forgot the Channel Awesome site even existed.

I didn't even realize there was some place to watch other than YouTube for the longest time.

Yay, sexual assault, criminal negligence and ruined careers?

yeah, this is only really enjoyable if you've never liked CA to begin with I think, and even then only in a schadendfreude sense. it's not so funny and lol popcorn for those in the line of fire.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-21 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you have to hate everyone involved with CA from management down to the fans to get OP’s level of gleeful enjoyment out of things like Holly losing her livelihood and fans being sexually assaulted and raped.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-21 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Guys, the fun thing about it isn't that horrible things happened but that all the shit is finally coming out and the people responsible for it will hopefully get what they deserve.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-21 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Justin's been dead for years, so the only people left to suffer from that mess are his victims.

The fact that there were never any contracts means that there's little to no legal recourse that anyone can take for the injuries, lost revenue, etc.

So, people's lives were ruined, but the three people who weren't actually victims in this and are still alive are going to suffer a loss of internet popularity.

Funnest thing ever!

Maybe, but I was getting exasperated with people on twitter who were tweeting things like "No! Don't stop talking about it, this is my favorite thing right now!" When Lindsay Ellis was tweeting about the toll it was taking on her (I can try and find the thread.) Like this awful series of events and the patterns of abuse that had affected so many people and their livelihood was just entertainment for a bunch of bored people on the internet.

I was a fan way back from pre-kickassia, but bailed on the site as a whole after the first exodus (I still watch some content creators directly through youtube but have largely not thought about Channel Awesome in years) and this whole thing is like... ironically enough, ruined nostalgia for me. "Hey remember all these dumb things you loved in high school? The people in them were either miserable or making other people miserable!"

Guru Larry is a shining beacon of humor in all of this though.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-21 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't even know Guru Larry was part of them until all this went down. I'd never heard of him in their context, only on his own waggish channel.

I made a post about this in general comments like a week before the google doc was dropped. I've been following the whole thing going down pretty intently. It has continued to bum me out.

Supposedly, there was a third rebuttal coming down the pipe, but idk if that has been cancelled. Maybe they finally realized it would be a horrible-bad idea, and they'd do better just keeping their head down and letting people forget anything ever happened.

I feel like this thread needs a popcorn.gif

But seriously, I've been enjoying this trainwreck from start to finish also. It's just so wtf that I can't stop staring.

Apparently this controversy has been going on for a week, but I've literally only discovered it today. And now seeing this secret, spooky timing. That said, I have no idea what exactly the CA controversy is, can someone explain what's happening or point me to a video that explains it?

Basically someone tweeted at Lupa (Allison Pregler) about Doug or something, she snarked about Doug, then others like Marzgurl and Linkara piped in all on twitter. Then Pushing up Roses and Holly Brown. Then the hashtag started, then the document was made. It's been going on since late MARCH. It's been around a month now give or take a few days.

Thank you and everyone else who responded with helpful info. It's all much appreciated!

Lupa also does a good video explanation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CY7cutLmyA

The controversy has been there for years. I still remember the first exodus.

But it was first highlighted at the time when nobody cared about this kind stuff, and now we're being reminded of it in the post-Hollywood Sex Abuse atmosphere.

Pretty sure Brad is only sticking around because he's such good friends who Doug and Rob. If the Walkers bolt, he's very likely to leave as well.

Also, Guru Larry is the best thing to come out of all this!
