Every doctor I've ever been to has insisted I call them by their first name.

I'd rather stick to titles, personally, but I guess it probably gets kind of tiresome to be called Dr. Smith all the time.

I've never been to a doctor who said to call them by their first name and I never would do so without them telling me to, but as I'm learning from this thread, apparently it's common. So I don't know if it's a regional/cultural thing or what.

I personally would rather stick to titles, too, I would just feel uncomfortable calling them by their first name, but you have a point, maybe sometimes they get tired of it.

I don't think it would happen in Germany, unless the doctor is a family member or something.
