I don't think that's the only reason.

At the end of the day, if a community doesn't attract new members, the reality is that it's going to die by attrition. So anything that drives users away is going to make it much quieter - as is the normal passage of time as people change their lives or lose interest. Anon logging is one of those things, but it's not the only thing and probably would have happened anyway, although maybe not on the same time line.

That's all I'm going to say about it because this depresses me too much.

Well, I never claimed it was the only reason. I agree that traffic has fallen because the community isn't attracting new users. I chalk that up mostly to fandom moving away from platforms like LJ and Dreamwidth and toward Tumblr. But IP logging definitely did not help.
