Gah, one author in my fandom basically writes almost nothing but endless variations on this theme. She’s a good writer aside from only doing the same plot over and over, to the point where I always hope she might continue one of the little prompt fills she sometimes writes that aren’t “grown man’s ability to be a functional adult goes poof in presence of love interest.”
