I feel you, OP. I had a similar thing happen with one of my friends. We spent all our middle school and high school years invested in these characters we had created and would write round robins, but in our case, I was the one who dropped it. Not because I lost interest, but because I got so busy with college and work that I couldn't find the time to write with her and we eventually lost touch. I reached out to her about a year ago to see if she wanted to continue our stories, but she never replied back. I really wish I'd been able to make time back then.
