I loved that, too. I thought the actor did an amazing job. I was pleasantly surprised that I came away from that show wanting to see some random character actor in more roles.

I haven't seen this movie in particular, but many older films use tropes for friendships --specially the epic friendship variety-- that are nowadays more commonly seen in romantic contexts.

It was a good cartoon, I liked it too and know little of the fandom issues that led to the secret. Are they related to the thing about how it was cancelled because too many girls liked it and supposedly that made boys not want the toys as much?
