What are your thoughts on world building?

(Anonymous) 2018-04-22 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you enjoy adding to canon or creating original worlds of your own, or do you find it tedious? Do you appreciate good world building in the fic and/or original works you read?

Comes second to the actual characters, but I can't deny how cool it is when done right.

I love good world building. There's nothing that peeves me more than when the world is full of holes, I need some logic and a background to dig into

Same. If a world makes no internal sense I just can't get into the story.

I love adding to it when it seems like the creators just half-assed it HELLO Ever After High.

If it looks like it doesn't need my help HI Star Wars, I don't feel I can do it justice.

World-building is good, but most people take it too literally / realistically / materially.

I love worldbuilding, both as something to do, and seeing the creators of media I'm consuming doing.

Oh, i love it so much. I tend to spend way too much time on world building and so i have to restrict myself, or my AU fics would be endless reams of pages about how the world works.

So much fun!

I love good world building, and have backed out of fic that handled it in a slipshod fashion or made it just unworkable.
