I totally sympathize, that completely sucks.

And I know it's not a perfect replacement and doesn't provide that in-person connection, but it might be worth investigating games that are play-by-post or over Skype or stuff like that?

Yeah, what the above anon suggested. Maybe see if there are any groups that let ou play on discord, or video call in? I'm sure lots of people are in the same boat as you :c

Roll20 is a great option, I personally run two games over Roll20 because I'm stuck in BFE. There's all kinds of games there!

I could probably find a game in the town where I currently live but that would mean talking to *shudder* strangers.

That said, I was invited to "drop in any Wednesday evening for D&D!" if I'm ever visiting another office two states away.

It's a forum that occasionally puts up a paywall, but maybe you might be able to find some folks here? Hope it works out well.

edit: if you don't want to deal with the occasional paywall, an account is only ten bucks, lasts forever, and grants you access to a really good community that's responsible for shaping the internet, and also banning racists. My god, reddit has nothing on these guys.

I really feel you. But for me, it's that I live in a crappy city where nothing happens and people never do anything, and I'm a girl and I've heard horror stories, so even if there were groups I could meet, I still wouldn't. :\

I grew up in a shitty rural town and thus spent my entire teenage years DMing for all-male groups. It was so awesome when I finally left home and met other female D&D players, and also got to play sometimes rather than DM because no-one else could be bothered!

There is also Fantasy Grounds, which is available on Steam.

I'm lucky, after moving from one small country town, to another, smaller country town and not playing D&D for years, some guys I work with started up a game at the end of last year!
