I remember watching this on the news as a kid. I am pretty they showed him dying on live tv. For YEARS afterwards I almost thought it was a movie because no one I knew remembered it.

I've heard that story on a few true crime shows here and there over the years, yeah! It's wild. Such a ridiculously elaborate conspiracy-one of those things that if somebody were to write a fictional story with this plot, people would be all, "Okay, that's way too out there, c'mon."
