I'm going with how the OP used to be a major fan of the MCU, but now no longer enjoys the movies as much as they once did. They in fact want to no longer have an emotional attachment to it.

I can't speculate with any certainty why they no longer find the current trend of MCU movies enjoyable, but I can say that since the current MCU movies come across as very samey to me, that the trend is likely to continue in that direction. I think the MCU figures they have a money-making formula, and I don't think they're going to deviate from it.

Not OP related but instead me related: I enjoyed the first Iron Man movie, I enjoyed Ant-Man, and I enjoyed Logan. But even then I didn't really enjoy the section of Ant-Man where he was interacting with the other superheroes, because the superhero group dynamics are just mercilessly bland to me. When superheroes get together, it's either someone is going to be a bland jobber situation, or people are going to inevitably fight for poorly-established reasons because those are the only forms of character interactions allowed. It's feels pandering and predictable. And it seems like group superhero dynamic movies are on the rise, so to me I'm just kinda unenthusiastic about MCU. OK, rant over.

Not OP but you've really hit why I am no longer enthused about marvel movies--the same same same-iness is sooo boring. Another white guy named Chris is the star. Another love interest whose main focus is helping the hero. Another failure of the fucking Bechdal test.

I loved Thor Rage'n'Rock and Black Panther, but I didn't bother seeing Antman or Strange and only went to GOTG2 because I was draaagged. Daddy issues? Fuck you, let's see some mommy issues. Sigh. (yes, I know Starlord has mommy issues TOO but they were not the focus of the whole damn movie, at least not in my opinion, as always YMMV)

Anyway, not to get all ranty and nobody pissed in my cornflakes, but I totally get why OP might be annoyed and wanting to get out of MCU.

Something to consider: it's also hard to escape if your FAMILY is still super into it, which the men in my family still totally are. Bitching about the above gets me labeled a ranty feminist, bitching about Steve or Loki dying would be more understood.
