Just venting, don’t mind me

(Anonymous) 2018-04-25 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
But if you need to vent to, please do. Gonna grumble in the next post.

*too, dammit. Also, venting ahoy:

So my life lately consists of spending multiple paychecks at a time on not-fun adult stuff (lawyers, tax prep, property taxes—in the last month I’ve spent $4,000+ on top of utilities and food and stuff when my paychecks equal about $1,250/month) and finding other people’s lost stuff.

Two weeks ago I found a senior/disabled/medicare bus pass and gave it to a bus driver who said they can find the owner on the day I paid $1,650, the second half of a $3,300.00 property tax payment, after I’d just been excused from jury duty because I couldn’t afford to miss that much work.

Friday of that same week I found somebody’s wallet with all their credit cards and money and I.D. still inside and went to the bank that issued their debit card to drop the wallet off, then caught two buses to pay a lawyer $1,500.00 for twenty minutes of their time.

Today I walked four and a half miles to get a bunch of tax stuff done and that’s gonna cost $1,000.00 just for the prep work, not counting taxes owed or late fees. On the way home I found a binder on the sidewalk that turned out to be a script by a Master’s degree theatre candidate from the university where I got my bachelor’s in theatre last year, so I googled them, found their email, and emailed them a photo and the location (I didn’t have time to bring it to the school and was afraid they might be retracing their steps.)

Hey universe, a script flip where someone finds and returns something important to me and I get a big chunk of money would be nice. Or at least space the “spend three month’s wages and wander all over town returning lost property” out a bit. I’m knackered. After not sleeping for longer than an hour at a stretch last night because looming tax paperwork anxiety ate my brain, I came home and grew a taproot out of my ass. Blargh.

I have to work all day tomorrow, but I have to go to the bank and then get more death certificate copies first, because I couldn’t face doing it today. Double blargh.

Gah.
But all your good karma *will* come back to you, for being such a damn good person and helping people out.

*blessings*

Virtual hug if you want one.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-25 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Because returning all that stuff as soon as possible was really nice of you!

Wish I could send you brownies or cookies or some such.

I don't know if any of this helps, but there's someone out here who thinks you're a good person and is wishing you luck.

Ouch.

I'm house shopping and quietly panicking over the local property tax rate and how it pushes most houses into the unaffordable category. Having the down payment is one thing, being able to afford the taxes on top of the mortgage payment is quite another. It's frustrating and depressing.

I hope returning all those things brings you sonne good karma.

I don't believe in karma but you are an incredibly good person for being so honest and I do believe in that.
hugs if you want

My Rant

[personal profile] philstar22 2018-04-25 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I get that some people aren't tech savy. But those people can't expect everything to cater to them. In my public speaking club, we were doing an info meeting on the new program for our organization. Only, we spent almost all the time on the easy, beginning stuff for one guy who hates anything technical and never covered anything any of the rest of us wanted to know.

I hate her

(Anonymous) 2018-04-25 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
The bitch who keeps treating her kid like shit in one of the apartment units next to mine. I don't know which, and the apartment office is useless because they don't get involved in that. (Violation of noise ordinance, sure, but not child abuse.) Even the apartment officers ignore what I tell them, but then, I guess that isn't their job.

The proper authorities won't do shit unless I have an exact address, which I get. But it's frustrating. I've been walking around the complex "exercising" and trying to pinpoint the source, even at night, but no luck so far. I hate doing things in such a goddamn inefficient way but nobody I've talked to has been any help.

I hate to make it about myself but there's no way to say this without doing that. It hurts my fucking heart every time I hear her f-bombing what sounds like a 4 year old, so much hate and fury in her voice, like everything the kid does just pisses her off. I can't believe nobody else is bothered by this shit. It's just awful to listen to. I guess it's possible to go around under the guise of being a friendly neighbor, but honestly, all of this shit is triggering to me too, and I get flashbacks to an angry "mother" beating the shit out of me over something so minor. I hate anyone who treats someone or something so vulnerable and much smaller than them like shit. Yes, I get some folks were abused and are probably passing that on but there's no excuse for that.

I want this bitch exposed for what she's doing, but my worst fear is reporting her for making noise, and then having her disappear with the kid forever. I don't know why she's decided that the person she should be protecting and loving should bear the brunt of her fury. I fucking hate her.

You could get a friend to go around the complex knocking on doors trying to scout for information

Or hire a private eye, I guess

Another vent. Okay, fuck oily skin. I just tried several new products. A cleanser with some kind of acid, a clay mask, and then a pore strip. My skin stayed dryish for an hour or two. ANd now it is super oily again. Ugh. Is there anything that will actually keep my skin normal?

If you were to ask my nose, it would say nope. I've tried a variety of stuff too and nothing makes a difference. And, just for funsies, my nose and scalp are the only greasy areas I have, while my forehead and the skin around my eyes is always dry.

Oooo, that makes things harder. Everything is oily for me (except my scalp). I have the shiny forehead syndrome and a nose that is never not full of blackheads. Makeup may or may not cover it, but it doesn't do much for my skin.

My skin was super greasy all the time until I stopped showering every day and started moisturizing every time I showered. Now it's actually prone to getting dry and only gets greasy if I'm super stressed or hormonal or eat too much junk food.

I live in Texas. I can't not shower every day. I have to shower in the morning, and often I have to shower at night on account of coming home super sweaty.

I need to find a good moisturizer, though. I have no idea how to find one that is cheap enough to afford and good for oily skin.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-25 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
I live in the southern US, too. I always thought I'd never be able to not shower daily but I just transitioned to it super slowly and was pleasantly surprised. It probably depends on a lot of factors though.

Try getting a bunch of moisturizer samples before committing to one.

I had super oily skin until I stopped trying to get rid of the oil. I switched to only using very gentle cleanser for sensitive skin and moisturised twice a day. Within a few weeks my skin was so much nicer. Now I only get oily if I touch my face too much.

[personal profile] philstar22 2018-04-25 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, that was my previous strategy. I washed my face daily with a gentle cleanser, and that's all I did. And covered the constant breakouts with makeup when necessary.

I've just recently decided I can't deal with my blackhead-filled nose anymore, so I'm trying some different products. And they don't seem to be making much of a difference.

DA

Are you sure there are blackheads on your nose, or are they just sebaceous filaments?

Nope, very much blackheads. I have major acne issues. I get on my body too. Not sure why other than my super oily skin. But nothing makes it go away so far. Might have to eventually try the prescription stuff, when I can afford it.

That sucks. I hope you get it figured out! I know how it feels to have acne that doesn't want to respond to treatment.

Have you tried aloe vera? I use it as a cleanser for my face (mixed with chamomile and linden).

Mine's a tiny one, but I think the hair cream I was using changed their formula and now it just dries the hell out of my hair. It took me years to find a product that added shine and definition to my curls and now it's back to square one and I'm pretty annoyed by it.

It might have, they do that sometimes. And that's always aggravating.

But it might be your hair. Your hair reacts to hormones, stress, and environmental factors, like the rest of your body. It can change, along with other things, as you get older.
